I really want to thank ChatGPT for helping me out โ otherwise, it would have been almost impossible for me to complete this project.
Subject Matter Expert โ Chegg India
This is where I earned my first salary. I went in thinking I was average at civil engineering courses. Then I started solving questions here and realized: 'Oh. Oh no. I'm not even average :')
College Experience
Leadership roles and experiences during my time at IIT Bombay.
Department General Secretary โ Civil Engineering
Elected Representative of 1200+ students ยท Led a 4-tier team of 32 members
One of the most memorable journeys of my college life. In just 2 weeks, I spoke to 1000+ students across the Civil Department โ listened to their problems, noted what they wanted changed for Elections. Fought a tough battle, and won. Led a 4-tier team of 32, represented our department at multiple events. Handled a โน0.85M annual budget, from formal events to fun nights, we did it all.
Made hundreds of memories, built lifelong friendships, and above all found my CEA Family :)
Marketing Coordinator โ E-Cell, IIT Bombay
Joined because of the freebies and parties. The only real work I did was organizing data โ updating spreadsheets and keeping things sorted. At least that's what I remember!
Class Representative โ Civil Engineering
The first time I learned campus politics, I talked to almost all 171 students in class for this election. I learned how to communicate with people, made some friends and lots of enemies. After becoming CR, I saw issues from both professor and student sides.
Turns out democracy is messy, but you learn a lot!
Interview Coordinator โ Placement Office, IIT Bombay
The only thing I did was calling seniors to attend placement interviews.
Thanks to the Placement Office for letting me put this on my resume: 'Assisted in conducting corporate tests as part of a 12-member team, handling student queries. Coordinated 250+ student volunteers to interview 1,800+ candidates.' :)
Invention Factory โ IIT Gandhinagar
Team of 20 students from 13+ IITs ยท Goal: Prototype, Pitch and Patent
Learned how to think, how to draft patents, and how to present in front of an audience. Invented a self-sealing biomedical bin that lowered exposure to biomedical waste by around 60%.
Best Moments: Ate lots of ice cream and chocolates every day (free from the program!), had pizza parties, tried skating, learned how to play video games โ and got addicted.
Worst Moments: Discovered I have major stage fright and realized I'm not as smart as I thought.
Volunteer
Teaching, mentoring, and giving back to the community.
Teaching Assistant โ IIT Bombay
6 times TA ยท Courses: ME119, MS101, ENT101, ENT605, ENT609
I realized the power of cold emailing when I wrote a heartfelt message to a professor, claiming I was deeply passionate about his field (truthfully, I just needed to fill my resume and make money โ times were tough). Despite my bad grades, he surprisingly accepted me!
That first teaching assistant role snowballed into five more TA positions โ where I learned endlessly, built lifelong friendships, made career-changing connections, and earned enough to support myself.
A special thanks to Prof. Devdip Purkayastha, one of the kindest mentors, for guiding me through this journey.
Content Reviewer โ NPTEL
I was grateful for the opportunity to contribute as a reviewer for NPTEL's 'Business Fundamentals for Entrepreneurs' course.
Department Academic Mentor โ IIT Bombay
Mentored 15+ teams & 60+ students in DAMP mentorship, E-Cell, EnB Buzz, Finsearch, and Finance Club.
